A Greater Gift is a
nonprofit alternative trade and development organization whose mission
is to promote the social and economic progress of people in developing
regions of the world by marketing their products in a just and direct
manor. Artisans and farmers from impoverished areas are assisted
in marketing their handcrafts and food items through Fair Trade, thus
enabling these individuals to build a better future for themselves and
their communities. As a result of this program, farmers and
artisans are guaranteed a fair wage, their children are not forced into
dangerous labor, and women are given an equal opportunity. Other
resulting benefits are producer-run cooperatives, organic farming, and
crop rotation.
